The practical significance of this became strikingly clear to me when I was a young man in charge of a psychosocial counselling centre, and we were involved in introducing debt counselling in Rhineland-Palatinate.

In addition to managing the centre, I was mainly involved in couples counselling. The frequency of economic problems in couple dynamics increased as I dealt with the effects of over-indebtedness.

I had simply overlooked the role that finances and over-indebtedness can play in families.

For our everyday work as coaches, therapists, managers and everyone else who works with people, I have learned that I should be attentive to what others find exciting about situations. It could be something crucial. It also keeps my brain at a diverse level of knowledge, which increases its ability to come up with intuitive suggestions for action that lie in the direction of „right“.
