It tears my heart apart!
Cain slays his brother again!

The current events in Israel and for too long in Ukraine make me doubt that we humans are able to love and support each other, very much contrary to my belief in our ability to love!
My consciously experienced childhood begins with the end of the Second World War. The wounds people inflicted on themselves in the preceding years and the grief over the lost loved ones and the destroyed or lost homeland determined our everyday lives.
I witnessed how most people supported each other and helped each other out. The „free“ part of our country took in an enormous number of uprooted and displaced people, making it possible for them to live on.
I am deeply disturbed by the foreclosure debate in our country. What happened there? Do people have no memory?
How can we close our hearts and doors when there is hardship and violence on our doorstep?
Evolutionary and human history shows that we as humanity have survived until today because we have acquired the ability to act selflessly and in the community’s interest, even if this sometimes meant personal renunciation.
Violence and wars have never led to anything good. They only leave death and suffering in their wake, destroying life, capital and our environment.
Yet I am convinced that in the end, love will prevail again, and the survivors will continue our legacy as an essentially loving way of life.
I gutted the corn poppy in my photo today. It is now flowering in autumn, although it is a summer flower. It is known for being among the first to colonise destroyed soils, a beacon of hope for me!
