And yet

Dealing with adverse circumstances.
She has found her niche, the autumn anemone, in an environment that is anything but inviting to take root. I imagine that all the people whom the winds of their lives have blown into our country feel the same way. They suddenly find themselves in an uninviting, foreign environment. And yet somehow, they manage to take root and flourish. What an achievement!

The same goes for people in our country who, by birth or fate, have landed at the bottom of the income scale, where a comfortable life with guaranteed education and regular holidays is not guaranteed. I am thinking especially of those unable to work, single mothers and the many women who survive on a mini-pension.

I am sure that in these populations, we have a large reservoir of expertise on how to deal successfully with adverse life circumstances. However, I am not aware of any research that attempts to explore, secure and make this knowledge widely available.
I have no idea how they do it!

The ability to foresee a given, hostile situation should definitely be part of it. The essential difference is probably the ability to avoid the problem trance and instead say:
„Well, that’s how it is. I’ll live my life anyway. Let’s see what works!“.

In coaching, we do the same. We encourage our clients to look at the possible, the alternative and to look at the world from the perspective of  NOW MORE THAN EVER!

What experiences do you have dealing with grey, forbidding walls along the way?
