Do something to stop this!

About the possibility of influencing the course of events!
Luna, our cat, has just come in. It is raining cats and dogs outside. So now she stands in front of me, looks me in the face and tells me in all clarity and volume that I should finally do something about the damned rain.

You might think that the stupid animal doesn’t know any better. However, we can currently observe voting citizens making similar statements. Therefore, politicians (whoever they may be) should finally do something about the market-regulated gas price or stop the consequences of Putin’s madness, just as my cat expects me to stop the rain.

I was inspired to write this post by the motto of a post by @Mario.
„You can’t control everything, but how you react to situations is something you can learn!“
As a rule, we have no influence on the situations that press and challenge us. However, how we deal with them is within our freedom of choice.

We, the species Homo sapiens, have survived for so long and made ourselves at home in so many extremes because adaptability is our strength. In contrast, attempts to dominate the world have brought us to the brink of extinction.

The strength of a good boxer is how he deals with the unpredictable blows of his opponent by skilfully dodging or blocking them.

For coaches and leaders, the question is whether we are more like the person my cat sees in me or more like boxers dancing through a fight, trying to handle the given situation as best we can.

I see myself more as a boxer who has learned to be loose and flexible in an open situation. He has learned this through intensive work on his reactions, feelings and above all, his fears. He has also worked intensively on his learning history in dealing with threatening situations.

Good coaches are also characterised by the fact that they have wrestled with their problems, learning-history, failures and successes and continue to deal with them. This enables them to face the imponderables of their coachees‘ life situations and to react to the unexpected with creative answers.

The same applies to managers, who can encourage and support their employees to venture into unknown territory with enthusiasm and creativity.
